Sometimes I am invited to experience different workshops and activities in NYC and if I am really lucky I get to take the kids with me. This past December I had one of those occasions when I had the opportunity to take my little drama queen to a musical theater workshop, something that would be right up her alley! I was impressed by how much was accomplished by these amazing kids and instructors in such a short time but I thought it might be fun for my daughter to write about her own experience. So, enjoy and I have a feeling that this will not be the last time you will hear A’s own voice on this blog…
**Also, Broadway Edge is running their next master class workshop for ages 8 & up in Manhattan, the weekend of March 2-3rd. Head on over to their website to check it out! All of my readers will receive a $50 discount if they use this code: MBLOG when they register.
Written by my daughter and guest blogger, A. Guirguis about her experience participating in a musical theater workshop given by Broadway Edge.
The Scoop on Broadway Edge
Broadways Edge’s Annie workshop was a great learning environment filled with very talented kids. We started off the workshop by doing ice breaker games and getting to know one another.
Then we did fake news reports. I thought it was fun to hear other people’s opinions and I think it was a good way to get people to feel comfortable speaking in front of each other.
The best part was learning the dance moves for the song “It’s A Hard Knock Life” from the musical “Annie”.
We learned the dance for “A Hard Knock Life” and then we performed the movements while singing the song. We also did journal entries as if we were one of the orphans.
The workshop is not based on talent but on teamwork. It’s a very good workshop and I had a lot of fun. I would recommend Broadway Edge workshops for kids who are finding their interest in theater and want to explore the fabulous world of drama! Have fun!
Nicely written A!
How much is this???
I think it varies based on the workshop, I would check out their website for more information. Good luck and thanks for reading! =)
