This weekend we have a wonderful reason to bake some delicious treats. No, it is not a holiday- although, it IS in Canada- Happy Thanksgiving! It IS October and that means that it is breast cancer awareness month. Last year the amazing Shari Brooks from My Judy The Foodie (a blog that honors the memory of Shari’s amazing mother who was a wonderful cook, baker and mom) started a campaign called Bake It Happen that combines the joy of baking and sharing good cheer while raising money for breast cancer awareness and research. Bake It Happen is teaming up with the Pink Pumpkin Foundation (hard working local farmers) who will also donate a % of their fall pink pumpkin sales directly to help breast cancer research.
So… the girls and I will be getting busy in the kitchen this weekend baking and sampling this year’s Bake It Happen recipes: Judy’s Pumpkin Brownies, Judy’s Earthquake Cookies and Judy’s Black Bottom Cupcakes. On Monday I will share with you how our weekend of baking went and if you are lucky maybe you will even get a little care package in person =)
Here’s what I would LOVE for YOU to do this weekend- please spread the word about this amazing campaign. Head on over to the Bake It Happen website and sign up. By simply 1) baking, 2) uploading photos, sharing yummy treats and spreading the word you can support breast research and have a 3) chance to win an iPad or Baked By Melissa Mini of the Month Club Membership.
We are getting our bake on and you can too! Keep an eye out for a post on Monday where I will be sharing our kitchen exploits and of course the pics of our delicious treats!!
Happy Weekend!!
