One of the best ways to rejuvenate the body and the soul is to escape to the country. This past weekend my friend Jessica and I headed up to the Poconos for a great spa getaway at The Lodge at Woodloch. It was exactly what I needed. A little breather from the fast pace of the city and the stress of the day to day.

We jumped into “Jake” the jeep and made our way to the Poconos in Pennsylvania. As soon as we drove over the George Washington Bridge I felt my body start to relax. We drove along the beautiful Palisades Parkway up Bear Mountain and made our way to the stunning snow covered countryside.

The Lodge at Woodloch is a wonderful resort. It is a perfect place to chill out, relax and simply just ‘be’. The rooms are nicely appointed, the spa facilities are wonderful, there are many spots to grab a tea and read your book in front of the fire and there are also many activities. Even though it was below freezing on Friday night Jessica and I signed up to do the nocturnal night walk on the property. Our fabulous guide Josh took us on a two mile hike through the woods on the Woodloch property. It was incredible, the stars were shining bright, the snow was crisp under foot and it was peaceful. So very quiet and peaceful. We also did a cooking demonstration on Saturday that was a lot of fun and involved some great hands on work. There were many other activities available ranging from yoga to tabata to wine tasting.

Jessica and I decided to spend the majority of our time using the awesome facilities. We had already had a week with a lot of running, training and spinning so we decided that the hot tub, sauna and steam room were where we wanted to hang out. It was divine. And of course we needed, yes needed πŸ˜‰ a little massage- wonderful.

The end result is returning to the city with a little more patience, energy and fortitude to face the temperatures that are dropping again.

Here are some pics from our adventure. I loved being able to just go out and walk on the property. The wintery silence was such a nice treat. Cleansing. Lovely. Perfect.

I always say that it has been a most excellent weekend in NYC if your feet hurt, your belly is full of good food, your bank account is a whole lot emptier, many drinks have been drunk, many excellent sights have been seen and much laughter has been had. Based on that criteria, this past weekend visit with my Ottawa girlies was a HUGE success and a much needed adventure for all. We walked and walked and drank and ate and drank some more, we shopped and shopped and shopped until I almost dropped. We rocked out to “Rock of Ages”, we laughed and caught up. We reminisced and made new memories. And we even managed to sneak in a viewing of “Twilight”. What more could you ask for really??!! Here are a few pics from the weekend, hope you enjoy them. Thanks for visiting Nina and Kel. Love you both lots and lots… (missed you D!) I guess it is now my turn to come back up North, eh?? xxoo
