We are enjoying one last day at the pool before we fly home from Orlando tonight. September is looming and I don’t think I can ignore the back to school emails, sales and information for much longer. We have had a fabulous time in Orlando- exploring the Disney Parks, cooling off at Blizzard Beach and Typhoon Lagoon as well as being thrilled and whirled around on many fast-paced rides and adventures. Each night we have gone to bed sun kissed and exhausted. A successful family vacation ๐
Here are a few pics from the past few days. Hope you are all enjoying the last fleeting days of summer. Happy Wednesday!!

We are trying to make summer last as long as possible by enjoying a family vacation in Orlando. It certainly feels like summer here with temperatures topping 100 degrees. So, when I was challenged to do the ice bucket challenge to raise money for ALS research I was actually looking forward to a little cool relief. Here is a pic of the girls and I about to dump our buckets on our head. It was a little shocking but definitely refreshing. If you are inclined please take the time to make a donation to this wonderful cause. Happy Wednesday! Enjoy these last few weeks of summer!!

Wordless Wednesday: The Birdcage

Today was a day to hang on the couch and watch movies. In honor of Robin Williams we decided to watch a couple of his movies. To be honest I didn’t really want to watch one of the more serious flicks, didn’t really need an excuse for tears. So, I introduced them to “The Birdcage”. Hilarious. And nothing my little NYC kids couldnt handle. ๐
RIP dear Robin, you will be missed. “Oh Captain, my Captain”.

I sit here writing this with my cup of tea, the dog at my feet, sitting in a chair that is overlooking the lake. The sun is fighting to come out from behind the clouds, the wind is gently blowing and the only sound I can hear are the waves lapping on the shore. Perfection.
I love cottage life. I have always loved it. Some of my fondest childhood memories are spending time at my Aunt and Uncle’s cottage on Wood Lake in Muskoka. There is something about the fresh air, trees, lake and pace that are just good for the soul.
Ron, Dopey dog and I are having a much needed relaxing time, doing a whole lot of nothing. Reading, swimming, chasing the ball (Dopey), kayaking, eating, drinking, playing cards, grilling (Ron), chatting (me) and checking out the local town. It is exactly what we needed. Especially Ron who has had a ridiculous work schedule lately.
We are about 1/2 an hour from the girls camp in New Hampshire and I am super excited to pick them up on Saturday but right now, I am going to pour another cup of tea and grab my book. Summer. Life is good.
Happy Wednesday everyone, hope you are finding time to enjoy a bit of peace and quiet in your happy place!

So, I went to a Soul Cycle class today in the West Village to participate in the amazing Anandah Carter’s last community ride before she takes the podium as an instructor. It was incredible. And then when I walked out of class and the sun was shining I decided to walk home instead of heading underground on the subway. I know I am slightly crazy but you all do know how much I LOVE walking in this city and I was already sweaty ๐ On my way back uptown I decided to ย walk along the Highline, because well, why not? So for today’s blogย I am going to share some pics that I took while strolling (I had no choice the tourists were out in droves!) the Highline. Hope you enjoy them. And Congrats Anandah!!! Happy Wednesday everyone!!
Wordless Wednesday: That Time Of Year Again…

Packing for camp. We drive the girls to New Hampshire on Saturday and although I have had the packing “done in my head” for weeks, I actually had to get to it today. Laundry was done, piles were made and labels were attached to everything except socks, I draw the line at socks!! As of Sunday, Ron and I will be childless for four whole weeks. I will miss the girls terribly but they need to get out of the stinking hot city, away from each other (even if it is only a cabin away) and they need to run around in the great outdoors. And well, Ron and I could use some “us” time. So, back to packing I go… the toiletries await ๐ Happy Wednesday everyone!!!

The girls leave for camp in a little over a week. It has been nice to have them home, enjoying a no schedule, relaxing start to the summer. It is starting to get hot in the city and this is when it becomes a bit challenging to find activities that do not involve baking in the concrete jungle. So far we have been exploring new playgrounds (with water features), riding our bikes, epic board game battles, play dates, movies and today chilling out with a good book in the a/c. I am also keeping a close eye on the suggestions from my good friend Babette who just started a Camp Mom NYCย Blog… be sure to check it out if you are looking for fun activities to do in NYC with kids whether you are a local or a tourist!
Here a few of my favorite pics from the last few days, hope you enjoy them. I will miss the little monkeys when they are gone, but I am also looking forward to spending some time on some grown-up NYC adventures too! ๐ Happy Wednesday- stay cool my friends, hydrate, hydrate, hydrate!!

It is that time of year- the end of another school year. Time seems to be flying by faster and faster. Today was the last full day of the 2013-2014 academic year for the girls- third and sixth grade. Crazy. So, today I will simply say that they keep making us incredibly proud with their many achievements and that we are pretty darn lucky, girl drama and all!!! ๐ Happy Summer my friends!!!

The end of the school year is fast approaching and with it is a whirlwind of activities at both girls schools. Although I complain about barely being able to keep all the dates of the numerous parties and performances straight, I have to admit I do love seeing their achievements. They are both incredibly lucky to go to wonderful public schools that challenge them academically and creatively. So awesome to see what they have been working on. So, today I am just taking a few minutes to post a couple of pics to recognize my little monkeys and another fantastic school year. Way to go ladies!!! Happy Wednesday everyone. Summer is right around the corner ๐
