Sometimes in NYC, it takes a little bit longer to master an outdoor sporting skill than in the ‘burbs. Although, if there was an Olympic sport consisting of fast walking while dodging cabs and tourists AND holding on to an umbrella and coffee, we would win every time πŸ˜‰ One of those things that take a bit more effort to do is learning to ride a bike without training wheels. It is pretty hard to find a cul-de-sac with no traffic to run up and down beside a kid on a wobbly bike πŸ˜‰ Luckily we live very close to Riverside Park which offers beautiful straight pathways and lots of wide open spaces to practice. Our youngest recently mastered the no training wheels skill and is happily cruising around on two wheels. Yesterday it was the perfect summer day for getting out and going for a ride. ‘R’ is still a little wobbly but is gaining confidence as she covers more and more pavement. It won’t be long until all of us are zipping around Manhattan on family biking tours. Woohoo!!! Here are some pics from the adventure. Enjoy and have a fabulous Wednesday!

On Monday a few of my girlfriends and I made a quick road trip out of the city to our friend’s house in Sherman, CT. It was a fabulous day filled with the warmth of good friends, much needed laughter, relaxation and of course a little bit of wine and food =) We had fun cruising around Lake Candlewood, cooling off in the water and enjoying the beautiful countryside on the stunning grounds of The White Silo Farm & Winery. It was a fabulous escape from the city and a spectacular day with cherished friends. A big thank you to Rena, for her incredible hospitality xox. Here are the pics from the day, hope you enjoy them. Happy Olympic Wednesday my friends πŸ˜‰

The girls have been at sleepaway camp since Sunday and yes, it has been VERY quiet around here. No kids for two whole weeks, a mini vacation. And what better way to spend it then by enjoying some of New York City’s best spots without children. So, this morning I took advantage of the “me time” and explored the MET- Metropolitan Museum of Art Β with my good friend Rachel. We didn’t have to listen to one “I’m bored” as we leisurely strolled through the exhibits that WE picked out. It was wonderful! Here are some of my favorite pics from our very civilized adult outing. Hope you have a fabulous Wednesday!

P.S. I did however, buy postcards to send to the girls, I haven’t totally forgotten about them πŸ˜‰

The air is oppressive today in the city. In fact as I type this a big old thunderstorm is rolling in and I can’t wait. Hopefully it will clear out the soupy 100 degree weather and the whole of NYC will be able to take a collective less stinky deep breath πŸ™‚ Luckily, I have a few good connections and my friend Rebecca from the amazing tween websiteΒ KidzVuzΒ (if you have tweens and they haven’t visited the website yet, I ask why not??!!) invited me and the girls to go see a sneak peek of theΒ AT&T Dumbo Arts FestivalΒ at theΒ Children’s Museum of the Arts. I have never been to the CMAof NY and I have to tell you it is a pretty impressive space where kids can truly explore all areas of creativity. The girls had a blast trying out self portraits, painting, still life drawing and animation. I loved wandering around in the space checking out the incredible artwork and leafing through brochures that showcased fabulous looking art classes and camps. And… big bonus it had Central Air- Woot!!

I think the fam will definitely have to head on down to DUMBO at the end of September to check out the festival. Right now, I am posting these pics and then heading back to my seat on the couch infront of the A/C. Hope you are all well and surviving another Wacky Wednesday πŸ˜‰

Yesterday was our first real July 4th in NYC where we celebrated in the traditional (or so it seemed) American way. We were away for July 4th last year and had only been in the city for two whole days on our first official July 4th, three summers ago. This year, we were lucky enough to be invited to our friend’s pool club for the day. So we easily rented a car and escaped the city heat by driving over the George Washington Bridge and into the Palisades area, where we spent the day frolicking in the water and chillaxing in the sun. After the pool, we headed into the town of Nyack, New York to have dinner, wander the charming main street area (with a stop for ice-cream), meandering towards the water and finishing the fabulous day by viewing a spectacular show of fireworks. It was a wonderful day with friends and family. Here are some pics, hope you enjoy them. Happy Thursday πŸ˜‰
