It is definitely back to normal around here, back to school, back to reality, back to routine, eating healthy, getting fit- all of those wonderful it MUST be January things π But, with a new year comes a fresh new outlook, positive energy and a renewed passion to get out there and explore NYC. This past weekend my youngest daughter and I, along with some friends went to see the Ann Hamilton exhibit : The Event of A Thread at the Park Avenue Armory. I am so glad that we were able to see this wonderful exhibit before it closed. The Park Avenue Armory is a spectacular space and the exhibit itself was beautiful, peaceful and absolutely mesmerizing. Here are some pics from our latest adventure. I hope you enjoy them. Have yourself a truly magical Wednesday =)

Yesterday I was reading the New York Times look back in pictures and also their ‘Lives Lived’ in the Times Magazine and was inspired to look back at my own life in pictures this year. There have definitely been many ups and downs in the past year as in any year lived and I have to admit that this past fall has been especially challenging. But, I have decided to put all that in the past and focus on the positive, a fresh new year with infinite possibilities. I hope you enjoy the pics.
I wish all of you a Happy New Year! May 2013 be filled with health, happiness, love, laughter and of course, many, many, fantastic new adventures!!!! xox

It is the day after Christmas. We had a wonderful day filled with family. But right now I am alone in the apartment. Everyone else has taken themselves to different movies. It is snowing outside, the dog is snoring, I am reading an awesome book and am about to make a chai tea. Perfection. I hope you are doing something today just for you. Stay safe and warm on this snowy, cold, stormy day after π xox

It is Christmas Eve and on this day I can’t help but be a little bit nostalgic and well, downright sappy. We are incredibly blessed. So very lucky. I cherish our amazing family and my beautiful friends. It is at this time that I am thankful for all that life has to offer.
And so to you all, my wish for you is to be surrounded by love, beauty, kindness, laughter and most of all a feeling of peace.
Merry Christmas and love to you all!
Here are a few pics from NYC at Christmas. Enjoy and don’t forget to leave the cookies out for Santa π xox
Wordless Wednesday: My Comfort And Joy

On Monday, for the first time ever, I was apprehensive about dropping off my children at school. And damn that made me angry. I am beyond horrified by the school shooting in Sandy Hook. My heart aches for the families and friends of those innocent children and teachers. There are no adequate words to express how I feel. I am not sure writing about it would even make me feel better. I am at a loss, like many of you.
But, I have visited my daughters school on numerous occasions this week for music celebrations, publishing parties and the coat drive. I am reminded of all of the good in the world. The amazing teachers and community. The joy and happiness in every little child. It gives me peace and hope. I am comforted by my own little monkeys, growing up so fast, so filled with energy and life. They are my comfort and joy. Today I send you all a little more love, light and peace. Xoxo
Wordless Wednesday: Urban Mamas On A Mission To Target

There are just some things that you can NOT get living in the midst of the concrete jungle and every once in awhile you crave these things. Such as… holiday themed hand soap, large boxes of snacks, band-aids with Disney characters, monster size packages of TP, cheap flannel p.j.’s, kraft dinner for $1, more cereal types than you can count and numerous other MUST haves!! So, when this crazy feeling needs to be calmed you pack into a girlfriends car and head to the mecca called Target. The wide open aisles, discount deals, shopping carts and the absence of cranky people bumping into you is exactly what you need to soothe your soul. And yesterday that is exactly what we did. With lists in hand myself and three other girlfriends made the trip to Le Targe and spent way to much money on things that yes, we absolutely did need. After all, the holidays are right around the corner π Have yourself a merry little Wednesday!!
Just Me And My Tween

The weekend before Thanksgiving my oldest daughter and I had the fantastic opportunity to attend the KidzVuz event, FashionTweenstas. KidzVuz is one of ‘A”s favorite websites and mine too! I love it because it is a totally SAFE place for my daughter to hang out and be social with other children her age and she loves it because she gets to post video reviews of books, movies, clothes, apps etc. AND she gets to be social and interact with other kids on the web, something she loves. Seriously, if you have kids between the ages of 7-12 and you have not checked it out, they are really missing something cool and super fun! Rumor has it that there will be an KidzVuz app available in the very near future. ‘A’ has already warned me that she will be stealing my iPhone while we are out to make “videos on the spot”. She can’t wait. Oh, my little drama queen!!
So, when we were invited to get “Our Girl On” at the KidzVuz event both of us were very excited.
It was so great to have time with just ‘A’ and I. It seems like so much of our focus lately has been on middle school and tours, that it was nice for the two of us just to just get out on a Sunday and enjoy each other’s company. Without other distractions we were able to catch up and chat on the subway and on the walk over to the event. She is a pretty cool person to hang out with π The event was held in a beautiful sun filled space with gorgeous decorations and lots of incredible booths to check out. ‘A’ was immediately drawn toward the Glitter Tattoo NY and spent time picking out her design.
While she was getting all glammed up, I toured many of the other tables, getting a lot of ideas for holiday gifts from Fashion Angels, Techlicious and Sparklehearts. The big hit Β for ‘A’ were the many cool items at the iScream table. She especially loved the cupcake pillow and their notebooks/journals. I thought these would be fabulous items for camp goodie bags. Must remember this in July!!
Next up, ‘A’ had a blast with Children’s Place designing her own mannequin. Such a fun idea. The girls loved picking out the clothes and best of all, the moms were not in charge of putting the clothes back =)
There was tons of fun to be had, but I was especially grateful for the awesome mom’s lounge. I may have sampled a drink or two and hung out in the wonderfully decorated area (by the very talented Amy Jacobs from Chandelier Events) and had some adult conversation. It was a much needed break from the giggling and excited chatter of all the happy tweens.
The FashionTweensta event was a great afternoon for both the tween and I. She loved all of the girlie activities and I appreciated the opportunity to see some fabulous women and check out some wonderful girl empowering products. Thank you KidzVuz, we really appreciated the opportunity to “get our girl on”. Most of all, we loved some mom and daughter bonding time.
And a PSA from me… get you and your kidz over to Kidzvuz now… what are you waiting for??? Go!

The last couple of months have definitely had their trying times. And I can’t help but admit that I am looking forward to 2013 for a bit of positive energy and the hope of new beginnings and a fresh outlook. However, this past weekend was American Thanksgiving. Yes, we do celebrate both. Lucky us π We had a wonderful relaxing weekend celebrating with cherished family and friends and during that long weekend I had time to reflect on how truly fortunate and thankful I am for all of our blessings. Most of all, the love that surrounds us. My heart is full of warmth from the amazing people I am truly lucky to have in my life. I am so immensely grateful for all of you. xox
Here are a few pics from the weekend and our adventures. I hope you enjoy them. Happy Wednesday!
