Yesterday was Ron’s birthday and of course, there was cake. As I uploaded the pic of him and the girls from last night’s celebration, Β I started going back and looking at past birthdays and couldn’t help but smile. It is a gloomy, rain blowing sideways kind of day here in NYC and so in order to add a little cheer I decided that wordless wednesday pics would be of birthday cake happiness. I mean there really is nothing more fun than having your cake and eating it too! I hope at least one of these pics makes you smile πŸ˜‰ Happy Wednesday!

This weekend started with a real blast from the past when I spotted a pair of moon boots. Wowza, haven’t seen those since the 80’s. Have to say they made me laugh like, well, a school girl, just like the 80’s πŸ˜‰

The retro weekend continued when we visited The Museum of the Moving ImageΒ where we were immersed in the magic of movies in their Behind the Screen Exhibition and then the old farts in the group (Ron and I) were transported right back to childhood in the Spacewar! Video Games Blast Off Exhibit. I LOVE this museum and I highly recommend jumping on the train and heading to Queens to check it out. The neighborhood is pretty cool too with tons of good pubs and shops to explore. Any day is a good day when the kids can just be kids and the adults get to be kids too! Here are some of my favorite pics, enjoy and have a fabulous Wednesday, S.

This morning I had one of those great runs. The kind of run that you really, really need. The kind of run where the sun is shining, there is little wind, the air is fresh and it just feels fabulous to pound the pavement under your shoes. Today I was back together with some of the best women I know, relieving some stress, burning some calories, sharing some laughs and reminding myself that there is joy in just getting out and moving. Sometimes there is happiness in the simplest of things. Much needed. Feeling grateful for lacing up the sneakers and getting out there. Hope you all have a fabulous Wednesday and as we roll into Valentine’s Day surround yourself with love and positivity. You know I love you πŸ˜‰

We have had very little snow in Manhattan this year. Yesterday we had a little dusting. I took the Dopey dog for a walk and took some pics. Hope you enjoy them. Happy Wednesday and hello February!

It is definitely back to normal around here, back to school, back to reality, back to routine, eating healthy, getting fit- all of those wonderful it MUST be January things πŸ˜‰ But, with a new year comes a fresh new outlook, positive energy and a renewed passion to get out there and explore NYC. This past weekend my youngest daughter and I, along with some friends went to see the Ann Hamilton exhibit : The Event of A Thread at the Park Avenue Armory. I am so glad that we were able to see this wonderful exhibit before it closed. The Park Avenue Armory is a spectacular space and the exhibit itself was beautiful, peaceful and absolutely mesmerizing. Here are some pics from our latest adventure. I hope you enjoy them. Have yourself a truly magical Wednesday =)

The last couple of months have definitely had their trying times. And I can’t help but admit that I am looking forward to 2013 for a bit of positive energy and the hope of new beginnings and a fresh outlook. However, this past weekend was American Thanksgiving. Yes, we do celebrate both. Lucky us πŸ˜‰ We had a wonderful relaxing weekend celebrating with cherished family and friends and during that long weekend I had time to reflect on how truly fortunate and thankful I am for all of our blessings. Most of all, the love that surrounds us. My heart is full of warmth from the amazing people I am truly lucky to have in my life. I am so immensely grateful for all of you. xox

Here are a few pics from the weekend and our adventures. I hope you enjoy them. Happy Wednesday!

Today I had the fantastic experience of spending the morning with R’s second grade class. We went on a field trip to Central Park where with the help of a Park Ranger, we learned all about rock formations. It is at times like this when I feel very fortunate that we have such an amazing greenspace to explore within the city. We may not have a backyard but we certainly do have an oasis of beauty to escape to whenever we would like. The kids loved being outside and I was thrilled to be along for the adventure! Here are some pics, Central Park is truly spectacular at this time of year. Enjoy and have a great day!

We arrived back in NYC late yesterday afternoon. And while it is oh so good to be home, after a doctor’s appointment involving needles to the heel (damn Plantar Faciatis!), laundry and more laundry, cranky sleep deprived children and a PA meeting to look forward to this afternoon, I am really wishing I was still on the beach in sunny California. But, like all good things, vacation does need to come to an end! =) We had an amazing time in California and am looking forward to sharing our adventures and pictures with you soon in an upcoming blog but for today I thought I would share some pics of a miniature NYC done in Lego from Legoland California. The whole family got a kick out of seeing our hometown set out in perfect little Lego detail, it really is an incredible thing to see. Hope you enjoy the pics. Happy Wednesday y’all!! Side note: Can’t help the “y’all” because I watched episode after episode of “The Closer” on the plane- such a good show!!!

The other day I was walking on the Upper East Side when I stopped to peer in and look at one of the teeniest of tiniest apartments I had ever seen in NYC. Now, I know that real estate and space is at a premium in this city but this a wee bit ridiculous! One of the men renovating the space asked if I was interested in buying it or renting it and I had to laugh, even though it is teeny weeny, a miniscule space like this on the Upper East Side was probably still way above my price range. Gotta love NYC real estate!! On the bright side, I am sure that it was way cheaper than the most expensive property in the city right now, an apartment overlooking Central Park that is on the market for a mere $95, 000, 000.00 Any one want to lend me some cash??!! Β Have a fabulous Wednesday and always keep your sense of humor πŸ˜‰

Yep, there is a building tucked in there!
