We have had a spectacular September. It really has been an extension of the summer… Beautiful, warm, sunny, blue sky days and mild nights. Definitely nothing to complain about.

Today, the first day of October is gloomy and drizzly with a bit of a chill in the air. But I don’t mind at all. I am ready for the days to get cooler. I can’t wait for the leaves to change. I love everything about the fall season in NYC. Bring it on. Hello October, lovely to see you.

It is another spectacular September day here in NYC. I should be doing a bunch of other “important” things but how could I resist taking the Dopey dog for a long walk on a day like today?? While walking back from uptown I passed three telephone booths. Three. Three real, old fashioned telephone booths that you can actually hang out in, have some privacy and talk on the phone. They were perfect graffiti covered stand alone structures. I wonder if my children have ever seen such a thing? And how had I never noticed them before? I always discover new and interesting things as I walk in this incredible city. My only disappointment is that I did not see Superman doing a quick change. Sigh. Maybe next time.

Happy Wednesday, hope you are enjoying these perfect blue sky filled days. And may you always have a quarter handy, just in case you find yourself near a telephone booth 😉

We had a great Memorial Day weekend in the City. Ron has been working crazy hours and the kids and I are busy with end of year activities and beginning of summer planning. So, what our family needed was just a weekend where we had absolutely no plans at all. It was perfect. We explored the Lower East Side, had a cupcake at our favorite spot in the city- Sugar Sweet Sunshine Bakery, checked out the treats in Economy Candy, visited street fairs, played at playgrounds that were outside of our normal ‘hood, saw the sights, had family movie and game night, finally ate at Bar BACON (beyond fantastic!!) and even managed to squeeze in a viewing of X-Men: Days of Future Past. A GREAT family weekend. I am including some of my favorite pics. Hope you enjoy them, have a very HAPPY Wednesday and a wonderful week =)

The fog and sun combination put on an incredible show this morning in New York City. After I did the morning school drop off and coffee I felt the pull to head down to the river with Dopey dog to take some pics. I was rewarded with a spectacular display by mother nature. At times the fog was so thick you could barely see a few feet in front of you and at other times the sun was so bright it was dazzling. What a treat! It was the perfect little mid-week escape. I hope you enjoy the pics. Come take a walk with me…

Have a wonderful day everyone! Happy Wednesday =)

It is really easy to get stuck in a rut and never leave your neighborhood, especially in Manhattan where you can find everything you need within a 20 block radius- well, almost everything. Today I had a opportunity to go to my first ever Soul Cycle community ride. This is a ride which features an instructor that is just completing the training program and is leading a class for the first time.  It was amazing. I went to support a rider I know, who, if judging by today’s class, will be an incredible addition to the Soul team. The ride was held at Soul Cycle in the West Village. It was the perfect excuse to get out of neighborhood and wander the beautiful streets of  Soho and the West Village. Unfortunately I didn’t get to take a lot of pics, but I did take a few shots that capture the awesomeness (and unique face) of these neighborhoods. Hope you enjoy them. Have an incredible day and happy Wednesday!

I always say that it has been a most excellent weekend in NYC if your feet hurt, your belly is full of good food, your bank account is a whole lot emptier, many drinks have been drunk, many excellent sights have been seen and much laughter has been had. Based on that criteria, this past weekend visit with my Ottawa girlies was a HUGE success and a much needed adventure for all. We walked and walked and drank and ate and drank some more, we shopped and shopped and shopped until I almost dropped. We rocked out to “Rock of Ages”, we laughed and caught up. We reminisced and made new memories. And we even managed to sneak in a viewing of “Twilight”. What more could you ask for really??!! Here are a few pics from the weekend, hope you enjoy them. Thanks for visiting Nina and Kel. Love you both lots and lots… (missed you D!) I guess it is now my turn to come back up North, eh?? xxoo

Wow, it is hard to believe that it is the end of July. In just over a week we pick up the girls from camp. A month- poof!- just like that! Summer sure does fly by…

I have been enjoying the simpler things this summer. After we got home from Newport, I had a little minor surgery which ended up involving a little complication, no worries, all is good. I am good. But, it just meant that the recovery was a bit longer than anticipated. It forced me to slow down, relax and just take some time. Over the past couple of weeks I have been reading, binge watching “Orange Is The New Black” (thank you Dana for the recommendation, it is AMAZING!!!), strolling through the MET (loved the Punk exhibit and the Roof Garden Commission by Imran Qureshi), enjoying coffee with friends, brunch with family, celebrating a birthday, meeting a new baby, writing letters to the girls, going on long walks and basically just slowing down a bit. It has been very relaxing. And refreshing.

Today Ron is back from his week long business trip in Europe and cherished friends are arriving from Ottawa. I am very much looking forward to some serious fun in NYC this weekend. I am also missing my little monkeys like crazy and can’t wait to see them next weekend. I have enjoyed the peace and quiet but I hate to admit it, but I do believe I thrive on the chaos 😉

Here are some pics taken over the past week or so, hope you enjoy them and I hope you are all finding time to relax and enjoy the beauty of summer. xox

Lately the NYC weather has been totally unpredictable, we have had rain, snow, sleet, slush and just plain yuck. So, this morning when I awoke to beautiful sunshine and not so cold temps, I decided to take advantage of it and take Dopey out for a walk. Here are some pics of our morning walk that I snapped along the way. Hope you enjoy them! Happy Wednesday everyone, Spring is definitely in the air!!!

And today it will be almost wordless 😉 While walking home from Starbucks my eye was drawn to this ad and the phone hanging off the hook.
The world is listening, indeed.

Yesterday I was reading the New York Times look back in pictures and also their ‘Lives Lived’ in the Times Magazine and was inspired to look back at my own life in pictures this year. There have definitely been many ups and downs in the past year as in any year lived and I have to admit that this past fall has been especially challenging. But, I have decided to put all that in the past and focus on the positive, a fresh new year with infinite possibilities. I hope you enjoy the pics.

I wish all of you a Happy New Year! May 2013 be filled with health, happiness, love, laughter and of course, many, many, fantastic new adventures!!!! xox
