Well, winter came back with a vengeance. 11.5 inches of snow and frigid, freezing temperatures, yep, we get it, no need to rub it in quite this much π And yes, it is freakin’ cold in Canada, I know, I know… Do we need to have the car vs. walking debate again??!! The point is, this winter is turning out to be a nasty one- everywhere. So, nothing to do but bundle up, get out and get moving or hibernate. Two very good options. I intend to keep doing a bit of both. Here are some pics from the last couple of days. Hope you enjoy them. Happy Wednesday everyone!! Stay safe and warm xoxo
P.S. Do you know how I can tell it is really cold in NYC? They take the fruit in from the outside stands at Fairway and West Side Markets.

So, when the weather people start calling winter the “polar vortex” I guess it is serious right?? Or maybe it is just a slow news period. Hard to tell, but yes, it has been pretty damn cold. The first week of January in NYC has brought snow, wicked fierce winds and frigid temperatures. Kind of makes me miss the days of hopping from my heated house into my heated car with heated seats… the key word here being heated π And NOT walking everywhere in the cold. But enough with the whining, after all, it is just winter, so let’s suck it up and tough it out or hibernate…
Here is what it looks like today in NYC:
Frozen dog pee and other liquids are dotting the sidewalks…

The snow is well, not exactly fresh…

The ghosts of Christmas past line the streets…

You have to bundle up like this to walk anywhere…

Hibernating in Starbucks sitting in the sun is definitely the preferred way to pass the time…

And when you go home Ricola has kindly sent you a care package to deal with the season- Thanks Ricola and Klout Perks!!

Yep, it is kind of hard not to start daydreaming about this:

Ahh January, it’s all good… we still love you so- a new year, a new outlook and all that positive energy! Happy Wednesday my friends, I suggest warm drinks and lots of snuggles to get you through this cold front. My companion is waiting for me…

There are so many, many moments of happiness from 2013 and of course there were many moments of tears as well, just like with any year. So, on this last day of 2013, I simply want to take a moment to reflect back and count and cherish our many blessings as a family and also to remember and pause to reflect on the painful moments as well. Life really is an adventure, one filled with twists and turns, ups and downs. An adventure not to be taken lightly. Β My wish for all of you in 2014 is many wonderful adventures with family and friends as well as good health and happiness! May you do all of this surrounded in warmth and laughter. Goodbye 2013 and Hello 2014! Happy, happy, happiest of New Year’s from our family to yours!!!

Ahhh, the day after Christmas when I look forward to doing a whole lot of nothing. The big things on the agenda are reading, playing board games, eating yummy leftovers and contemplating going to see a movie. We might not get to the movie because that would mean getting out of our pajamas! π Absolute perfection.
We had a beautiful day yesterday filled with friends and family. There was many a shared story, lots of laughter, an abundance of good food and just a general feeling of warmth and happiness. Feeling so incredibly grateful for the cherished time together.
My big gift this year was a real camera. I love taking pictures and for those that know me, I can be a bit of a pain in the butt always whipping out my iPhone trying to get the perfect shot. So this year Ron gave me a real camera- the Sony Alpha Nex-7. I am in love with it. I still have no idea how to use it properly and can’t wait to get to know all of the incredible functions and start exploring and to become an amateur photographer. So, yesterday I just did a lot of point and click and enjoyed every minute of it. Β I hope you enjoy the pics, and I guess you will just have to bear with me as I take out my camera even more in 2014!
Wishing you a day filled with much relaxation!

‘Twas the night before Christmas and all the through the apartment, the children were bouncing with excitement while the adults lazed about and poured another glass… π
Or something like that!
Just wanted to take the time today to wish you all a very Merry Christmas from our home to yours. May your day be filled with laughter, fun, family, friends, good food and the warm glow of love. Taking a little time today for reflection and counting all of our many blessings. Grateful for so many of you. May your 2014 be filled with health and happiness! xoxox

Yep, it is the crazy season! Parties, class get togethers, finding the perfect gift, shopping, eating, drinking, more eating, organizing, scheduling, planning, freaking out… Yep. All this fun takes a heck of a lot of work π
Today, a week from Christmas I am taking a little time to breathe. Here are a couple of things that are helping me to keep my sanity, extend my patience, find my sense of humor and fight off the scrooge. They need to be enjoyed in balance!
Happy Wednesday to all of you and remember to find the true spirit of the season and embrace the love! xoxo

This past Sunday we picked out our Christmas tree and decorated it. She is a big beautiful tree and once it warmed up and opened up we have to admit it looked a littleΒ “Griswold” Christmas. It definitely fills up the room but we love it and you can’t help but be filled with the spirit of the season when you look at it =). Hope you enjoy the pics. Happy Wednesday everyone, two more weeks until Santa visits… just keep breathing and remember a little Baileys in your coffee always tastes good π
