It snowed again this morning. The clouds have been blocking out the sun most of the day. There is more snow in the forecast for the weekend. So, right now the beauty of these simple yellow flowers finding a patch of sunlight in the window is making me incredibly happy. Hopeful for spring and warmer weather. Happy Wednesday. May you all find a little patch of sun in your day! πŸ˜ƒ

We arrived in sunny Florida on Monday morning and it has been incredibly rejuvenating for both the mind, body and soul. After five days of sunshine, palm trees and pool time, I can handle whatever this winter has left for us. Happy Wednesday!! Hope you are all finding a bit of sunshine no matter where you are. Xoxo

It is still cold in NYC. Whine, whine, whine and more complaining. We have another winter storm warning in effect- 6-10 inches. Ugh. Oh winter, this former Ottawa girl is so over you!! The bright spot in my day was going to Soul Cycle and finding the love, warmth and inspiration on the bike. Love my Soul Cycle family on the UWS. They really are THE best. Thanks Sean for a great class, thanks beyond awesome front desk team and thanks Jessica for being my wing-woman in the class. I soooo needed the warmth of Soul today. Happy Wednesday! Stay warm and safe my friends xox

So, I am a bit bummed that we will not be going to the actual Super Bowl this year given that it IS in NYC, well, New Jersey. I guess going to a Super Bowl will have to remain on the bucket list and we will have to aim to go to one in a warmer city, maybe the next time it is held in New Orleans??!!

However, there is definitely lots of Super Bowl excitement gripping the city already. Yesterday some friends and I headed to Macy’s to pick up some SB shirts- specifically Sherman jerseys that we will be wearing to our NYRR Gridiron 4M run in Central Park on Sunday morning. We have decided that we will run as “Team Sherman”– if that man is a thug, we need more thugs like him!!! The 4th floor of Macy’s is packed with all the gear you will need to support your favorite team. Go Broncos!!!

I will try and get out to the Super Bowl Mile in Times Square to take some pics of the action there… Football mania has definitely arrived!

As for me, I am looking forward to making some homemade nachos, drinking ice cold beer and screaming at the t.v. from the comfort and WARMTH of my couch.

Happy Wednesday and Happy Football everyone πŸ˜‰

Well, winter came back with a vengeance. 11.5 inches of snow and frigid, freezing temperatures, yep, we get it, no need to rub it in quite this much πŸ˜‰ And yes, it is freakin’ cold in Canada, I know, I know… Do we need to have the car vs. walking debate again??!! The point is, this winter is turning out to be a nasty one- everywhere. So, nothing to do but bundle up, get out and get moving or hibernate. Two very good options. I intend to keep doing a bit of both. Here are some pics from the last couple of days. Hope you enjoy them. Happy Wednesday everyone!! Stay safe and warm xoxo

P.S. Do you know how I can tell it is really cold in NYC? They take the fruit in from the outside stands at Fairway and West Side Markets.

The fog and sun combination put on an incredible show this morning in New York City. After I did the morning school drop off and coffee I felt the pull to head down to the river with Dopey dog to take some pics. I was rewarded with a spectacular display by mother nature. At times the fog was so thick you could barely see a few feet in front of you and at other times the sun was so bright it was dazzling. What a treat! It was the perfect little mid-week escape. I hope you enjoy the pics. Come take a walk with me…

Have a wonderful day everyone! Happy Wednesday =)

So, when the weather people start calling winter the “polar vortex” I guess it is serious right?? Or maybe it is just a slow news period. Hard to tell, but yes, it has been pretty damn cold. The first week of January in NYC has brought snow, wicked fierce winds and frigid temperatures. Kind of makes me miss the days of hopping from my heated house into my heated car with heated seats… the key word here being heated πŸ˜‰ And NOT walking everywhere in the cold. But enough with the whining, after all, it is just winter, so let’s suck it up and tough it out or hibernate…

Here is what it looks like today in NYC:

Frozen dog pee and other liquids are dotting the sidewalks…

The snow is well, not exactly fresh…

The ghosts of Christmas past line the streets…

You have to bundle up like this to walk anywhere…

Hibernating in Starbucks sitting in the sun is definitely the preferred way to pass the time…

And when you go home Ricola has kindly sent you a care package to deal with the season- Thanks Ricola and Klout Perks!!

Yep, it is kind of hard not to start daydreaming about this:

Ahh January, it’s all good… we still love you so- a new year, a new outlook and all that positive energy! Happy Wednesday my friends, I suggest warm drinks and lots of snuggles to get you through this cold front. My companion is waiting for me…

Yep, it is the crazy season! Parties, class get togethers, finding the perfect gift, shopping, eating, drinking, more eating, organizing, scheduling, planning, freaking out… Yep. All this fun takes a heck of a lot of work πŸ˜‰

Today, a week from Christmas I am taking a little time to breathe. Here are a couple of things that are helping me to keep my sanity, extend my patience, find my sense of humor and fight off the scrooge. They need to be enjoyed in balance!

Happy Wednesday to all of you and remember to find the true spirit of the season and embrace the love! xoxo

This past Sunday we picked out our Christmas tree and decorated it. She is a big beautiful tree and once it warmed up and opened up we have to admit it looked a littleΒ “Griswold” Christmas. It definitely fills up the room but we love it and you can’t help but be filled with the spirit of the season when you look at it =). Hope you enjoy the pics. Happy Wednesday everyone, two more weeks until Santa visits… just keep breathing and remember a little Baileys in your coffee always tastes good πŸ˜‰

This time of year in New York City is truly magical. The whole city, normally such a subdued place to begin with πŸ˜‰ comes alive in decorations- beautiful lights and colors, lavish store front windows and displays. The festivities and celebrations are endless. Breathtaking views become even more impossibly stunning and a warm glow seems to take over the city. It is pretty hard to be a grinch although you can still find a few of those too! Over the Thanksgiving weekend, the true kick off to the holiday fun, we decided to get tickets to go and see “The Holiday Train Show” at New York Botanical Garden.

I had been wanting to go and explore the Botanical Gardens for a long time and this was the perfect excuse. It is a quick and easy 20 minute Metro North train ride from Manhattan into the Bronx. The Gardens are located right across from the train station. I recommend buying your train show tickets in advance as they do sell out. I bought my tickets for the timed entry a week in advance. You are free to explore the vast beautiful areas at the rest of the Botanical Garden while you are waiting to go into the Train Show. It is crowded while you go through the train show (no strollers are permitted) but you will want to take your time anyway. Most of the kids were in awe of the trains winding their way throughout the exhibit but I was mesmerized by all of the New York City landmarks that were constructed out of natural materials and plant life. It is truly amazing. If you have a chance, go and see this beautiful exhibit. I loved the whole Botanical Garden, we decided to put our tickets toward an annual family membership and I can’t wait to go back and explore the grounds during the different seasons.

This is just one of the many spectacular things going on in the city to ignite the spirit of the season. Hope you enjoy the pics. Happy Wednesday and Happy December =) Keep calm and remember to spike the eggnog!!
