Summer weather has officially hit NYC which means hot and steamy running conditions. That didn’t stop us and tons of other runners from getting out there and hitting the pavement on global running day. The 4 miles weren’t exactly refreshing but they did feel like a great workout. Feeling lucky to be able to have access to so many incredible running routes in NYC and grateful for fantastic running partners. Happy Global Running Day everyone! Hope you find some time to lace up and get out there π

Wordless Wednesday: Run Dog Run!!

This morning Memphis and I did our first run together in Central Park. The forecast for the week calls for rain and more rain so I thought I would try and burn off some of his energy by bringing him with me. I am supposed to be easing back into running. Ha! He is fast. I definitely slowed down his pace but luckily he is easily distracted by everything!! Squirrel!!
We have to work on our synchronicity but he is an enthusiastic partner and motivator. His energy is contagious.
It was great to be back in the park hitting the pavement. Hope you are having a great day! Stay dry and think positive. π

There are often times in NYC where you find yourself between appointments or activities and you have to kill time because schlepping home does not make sense. This happened to me today.
It is a beautiful sunny day. Still a bit cool, but after rain and snow flurries, I am not going to complain.
I took advantage of the down time, grabbed a coffee and parked my butt on a bench in Madison Square Park. Excellent people watching, beautiful views and there was even a movie set to stalk. Not a bad way to waste some time. π
Happy Wednesday my friends! Enjoy the pics!!

Today I had an early start. Walked Mempis, wolfed down some breakfast, organized the girls, dropped R off at Girls on the Run and then I headed to Flatiron to Y7 Yoga Studio for an 8:15 class.
It is Hip Hop Wednesday and I did not want to miss this weeks artist: Biggie! (aka Notorious B.I.G.).
R can’t believe I go to hip hop yoga and is actually confused by this. She calls it old lady yoga. Sigh. If she only knew. My friends and I are clearly the oldest people in the room BUT that means we can truly appreciate the music ππ
After yoga Mel and I wandered a bit and then had a leisurely brunch. Woooosaaaa! Slowing down and appreciating the little things is good for the soul. Namaste old school peeps and happy Wednesday!!

I am bit under the weather today but I can’t feel too blue when I am lucky enough to have Memphis to snuggle with.
Taking the time to feel so much gratitude that Memphis is in our life. Happy Puppy Day to our little snuggle bug π

Today is a beautiful spring like day. The temps are climbing and the sun is shining. I have been sidelined from running for a few months now with achilles tendonitis. Rest and physical therapy have been helping but I have definitely missed pounding the pavement.
I recently got the go ahead to start running again. To run in very short amounts. And I promised I would listen to my body. Something most of us runners are not very good at.
So, this morning I headed to the park and did a VERY short and slow walk/run. It felt good and it is a start. Central Park was its majestic self, teeming with runners, walkers and cyclists. It is really hard to resist its beauty on such an incredible day π

Memphis was happy to welcome me back home by saving a sunny spot for me on the couch π
Happy Wednesday my friends. Keep springing forward and focusing on the positive. Remember, one foot at a time π
Wordless Wednesday: Meet Memphis!!!

This past Friday we moved into our new apartment. The girls and I love the new space. It truly feels like a fresh start and a warm and wonderful home. On that same day we also welcomed a new addition to our family.
It wasn’t supposed to happen this fast… We had just put our beloved Dopey down not too long ago. But, as I have learned time and again, life doesn’t always work on a specified timeline or go exactly as planned.
A kind hearted and amazing soul named Judy who works with the group NYC Second Chance Rescue was fostering Memphis. I decided to go and meet him. From the moment I laid eyes on him, I knew he was the perfect dog for our family. Memphis is a total love bug who loves everyone, is curious, happy to meet other animals and loves cuddles and kisses. He is approximately 9 months and weighs 40 pounds. Judy is convinced Dopey sent him to us, I think she might be right. Hard to say if we rescued him, or if he rescued us π
I feel like brighter days are ahead. Hard to have a bad day when a happy, wiggle butt greets you at the door!
A BIG thank you to Judy and NYC Second Chance. We are grateful for all you do.
Happy Wednesday my friends, sending puppy kisses your way!!
Wordless Wednesday: Drowning In A Sea Of Green Bins!

The girls and I are doing a move within in our building. A little down sizing. We are all (especially me!) super excited to have a new space to call our own. New decorating possibilities- woohoo!!
However, it is still taking as much energy and work as a move across the city or country would be. I am going through each and every room and space, throwing out, donating and packing. And consuming a lot of caffeine! π It is exhausting but I know that it will be worth it in the end. But seriously, how many towels and sneakers does one family need??
So, if you need me over the next week or so I will likely be under a box or bin or maybe stuck under a pile of books. I happily welcome distractions. I AM a procrastinator to the core!
Happy Wednesday! Keep on rocking my friends.
Wordless Wednesday: California Donut Run

The new year hasn’t exactly started off with the positive bang that I was hoping for but I do believe things are looking up. On that note the girls and I are having an incredible time in California.
California truly is one of my favorite places. I am not sure if it is because it is my place of birth but every time I return, I feel a sense of peace. We are staying in Carlsbad, just north of San Diego and it is beautiful. Being able to wake up to a view of the ocean every morning is good for my soul. I love sharing my love of Cali with the girls.
This morning the little one and I went on a sunrise adventure for donuts. We have driven by the Leucadia Donut Shoppe on the pacific coast highway numerous times on our travels. The first time there was a huge line and the second time we drove by there was a sign on the door- the donuts were sold out by 10:30am! We were intrigued.
My body still wakes up like we are on the east coast so this morning Re and I hopped in the car and headed off to get donuts. At that time of the morning we were able to see the sunrise, meet other crazy people getting donuts at 6 in the morning, chat with the super nice guy at the donut shoppe and stop to say good morning to the ocean. Perfection.
And the donuts? Unbelievable. Amazingly good. Might be worth the sunrise drive every morning!!!
Enjoy the pics. Hope you are all enjoying fun and fabulous February adventures π
Snowstorm Jonas

They warned us Jonas was coming. In predictable NYC fashion people rushed to the local supermarkets and cleared the shelves of bread. One can only hope that wine and cheese were bought too. We all speculated, would the city really get hit this time? Last year in preparation for an epic storm, the subways were closed, schools were cancelled and not a single flake fell. Bummer. This time, storm Jonas actually went above and beyond and brought more snow than was even predicted. It was a record storm for NYC, one for the books. The Jonas snowfall total for Central Park is 27.9 inches. Wowza.
We spent Jonas hunkered down in the apartment. I caught up on tv shows and ventured out to take the dog and grab a few pics. The girls played with friends and tuned into their own devices. We found some of grandma’s spaghetti sauce in the freezer and indulged in gourmet hot chocolate given to us as a Christmas gift. The snow fell outside, the wind blew and I felt incredibly grateful to be warm and safe inside. Caught in our own little winter wonderland snow globe.
I love when NYC is forced to slow down. The streets clear, people reach out to help others, small acts of kindness are witnessed- a shared meal, a sidewalk shoveled, a hand up over a large snowbank… People gather on the deserted streets to take in the beauty of the freshly fallen snow. We remember to cherish the little things.
This morning we headed over to our favorite hill to get our sledding on. The sun dazzled, kids laughed and the city slowly awoke, seemingly a bit reluctant to return to its normal pace.
I hope you all made it through the storm safely and found a little peace. It was nice to see winter make an appearance, maybe next time not all at once π
